About  C.S.U.F.

The Croatian and Slovenian United Foundation (C.S.U.F.) has been the unifying force and the underpinning of the Croatian and Slovenian community at the Church of the Nativity in San Francisco (at 240 Fell St.).  It was incorporated as a California Nonprofit Religious Corporation in 1999 and has California tax exempt status.  The primary purpose of C.S.U.F. is to retain and maintain the Church of the Nativity, San Francisco, as our parish church and a permanent place of worship for the Croatian and Slovenian Catholics in the San Francisco Bay Area.  This purpose includes seeking ways to keep the Nativity Church vibrant and viable. For other goals, as specified in the Foundation’s By-laws, please see the President’s Column in the April 2009 issue of Novi Glas.

About Novi Glas

Novi Glas is the official publication of C.S.U.F., the Croatian and Slovenian United Foundation, an independent parishioners’ association at the Church of the Nativity Parish in San Francisco.  Issued bi-monthly, its main purpose is to keep the Croatian and Slovenian parishioners informed about the activities of C.S.U.F. and other relevant events of this community, as well as to promote communal cohesiveness especially at present when the membership is declining.  The publication also serves as a link to those members who are unable to come to the Nativity often.

Novi Glas developed to meet the needs of the community when the Church of the Nativity was closed in the mid-nineties.  At first it served in support of the effort many parishioners made to have the church reopened.  After the church reopened in 1996, this newsletter continued its role to support the church and act on behalf of the Croatian and Slovenian community, in sum, to fulfill the goals of the C.S.U.F. it serves.

Introducing e-Edition of Novi Glas

We are excited about our newly-introduced e-Edition of Novi Glas! (called either e-Edition or Web edition). Please check it out - click here - and view the issue(s) in full.

The e-Edition of Novi Glas is a counterpart of our bi-monthly paper edition with the same title.  It carries all the information published in the paper format plus the pictures and the text for which there is occasionally no space left on the paper.

Contrary to the paper edition of Novi Glas, which is typically printed in black & white, Novi Glas on the Web is always in color!  In addition, this version offers several other advantages over the paper edition.  For instance, you can change the size of the text at will for easier reading, catch up with anything you missed in the past without storing back issues, and share issues or articles with friends and family without needing to go to the post office.

On the Novi Glas page you will also find a simple “Sig-up for Delivery” form.  Please fill it out to let us know if you can do without the paper version from now on, if you wish to continue to receive the paper version, and if you want to be notified by e-mail when the new Web edition comes out.  The switch from the paper to electronic delivery will mean savings to us, but we’ll be happy to hear from you regardless which option you decide to choose.

Do tell us how we are doing with Novi Glas in either format.  You can communicate with us verbally, on paper or electronically. On the Web, a Message Center was set up for this purpose.  We’ll welcome your comments and suggestions and will embrace your contributions for articles.  Thank you.

Happily presented to you by the CSUF Board using Martin Junkar’s know-how.  Enjoy!
